A variety of production features have helped the lego company throughout its existence. Lego has been able to develop many of the most popular toys in the world due to these my website features. These features include the development of an interlocking mechanism that is unique and the use plastic instead of other materials. These unique features have allowed the company to become the leading toy manufacturer in the world.

In the 1960s, the business continued to grow rapidly. Dagny, Godtfred Kirk Christiansens cousin, joined the company in the year 1960 as a model builder. Dagny was adept at making large scale models and worlds that were displayed in the showroom. This was a great way to promote the possibilities of LEGO bricks and spark interest among youngsters.

In 1971, the LEGO system began to expand by adding furniture pieces and dollhouses. In 1972, the system was further expanded with the addition of ships and boats sets, which included floating hull pieces. In the 1960s, the company started its international expansion by selling its products in North America via a licensing deal with Samsonite.

In the 1980s, the company continued to expand, diversify and modernize. This led to the creation of an R&D department that has helped keep the LEGO system on top of its game in terms of technological innovation. The introduction of themed sets allowed people to build specific models, without needing to work out the details on their own. This was the beginning of more complicated building and gave children a more hands on experience using Legos.
